各位同學開學愉快！今天要來聊聊一個超實用的英文句型：「比較級 than」。你可能會想：這不是國中英文就學過的嗎？沒錯！但比較級這個句型不只在英文考試或是寫作時派得上用場，它還藏在很多有趣的英文俗諺裡，讓一些人生大道理更淺顯易懂。準備好了嗎？讓我們一起來看看吧！
1. Actions speak louder than words. 坐而言，不如起而行。
這句俗諺提醒我們，實際的行動比空泛的承諾更有說服力。與其說你會努力，不如直接展現你的成果。
Don't just tell me you'll help with the project; actions speak louder than words. (別只告訴我你會幫忙這個計畫，別空談，你要做呀。)
2. Better late than never. 遲到總比不到好。
這句話常用於正面的語境，表示即使延遲，也比完全沒有來得強。
I know the homework is a day late, but better late than never. (我知道作業晚交了一天，但遲交總比沒交好。)
3. Better late than sorry. 寧可遲到，也不要後悔。
這句跟上一句滿類似，表示雖然事情來得晚，但總比不做要好。但更強調即使延遲執行某事，也比因此錯過機會或後果嚴重來得好，亡羊補牢的意思。
Slow down, it's a foggy road. Better late than sorry. (開慢一點，這條路霧很大。寧可遲到，也不要後悔。)
4. Two heads are better than one. 三個臭皮匠，勝過一個諸葛亮。
當你遇到困難時，找人一起討論或合作，常常能找到更好的解決辦法。
I'm not sure how to solve this math problem. Let's ask my friend, because two heads are better than one. (我不確定怎麼解這道數學題。我們去問我朋友吧，因為三個臭皮匠，勝過一個諸葛亮。)
5. The eyes are bigger than the stomach. 眼大肚子小。
形容在點餐或拿食物時，拿得太多，但最後卻吃不完。這是一個很生動的提醒，不要高估自己的食量。
I ordered too much food at the buffet. My eyes were bigger than my stomach. (我在吃到飽餐廳點了太多食物，我真是眼睛比肚子大。)
6. The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. 得不到的總是比較好；這山望著那山高。
提醒我們不要總是羨慕別人所擁有的，要懂得欣賞自己所擁有的。迪士尼動畫片小美人魚的名曲"Under the Sea"，也有稍微變化一下此句為：The seaweed is always greener in somebody else's lake. 以更符合電影情境唷。
He thinks his neighbor's new car is better, but he doesn't know about all its problems. The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. (他覺得他鄰居的新車比較好，但他不知道那台車有很多問題。別人的東西比較好。)
